June is a wrap and that means that the year is half over, amazing! Monica helps me with these posts by collecting her favorite images from the month so when I log in to write-up my review it is really interesting for me to see what she picks. My analytical mind instantly dissects what was accomplished, and what projects are still on the table. Some months it looks like I’ve worked way too much, others look like we’ve had too much fun but this month looks to be perfectly balanced between the two.
Monica and I were invited to the Santana Row summer fashion show and it was so much fun. I love going to Santana Row because the crowd is so diverse and so well dressed. When we first moved to California and my budget was tight but I had endless free time I would splurge on a coffee at Starbucks there and just sit and people watch while I worked on my business development.
Monica and I invited our better-halves to tag along and we had fun around the pool at one of the residences at Santana Row for the fashion show and then after the event we had a cocktail and some authentic Mexican at one of the hot spots with live music. Santana Row has so many great events going on all summer long so you need to check out their calendar to see if something strikes your fancy!
A major highlight from the month was attending the Sunset Celebration with Taylor and our husbands. When we walked in past the ticket booth it instantly felt like we were on vacation, Taylor and I just looked at each other and laughed, we both really needed that day off! I put a full recap on the blog that doesn’t even scratch the surface of what was available to enjoy but I tried. I’m sad to see them leave Menlo Park and head for Oakland but things change and we must adjust.
It is alway my goal to try to balance the organizing features on my social media with all of the estate work that we do. I remind folks all of the time that we spend just as much time doing both and I am so glad we do. The balance it provides for me and the gang is just perfect.
My favorite session from the month was working with this 8-year old cutie in her room. If only all of our clients could organize and make decisions like an 8-year old. To decide whether or not to keep something is so black or white to them, there is no emotion or guilt attached it seems. Our little client was committed to purging all things Barbie and unicorn and we helped her do just that. Her room was rearranged, furniture was swapped our for new furniture. Storage was added and systems were created that everyone in her family could help her maintain.
We also spent a few days with another fabulous organizing client helping her with her storage and entertaining areas. This client has a lot of storage options so it was smart of her to hire us to strategize storage that will help her locate and maintain everything. Tammy is in the photo on the bottom left, I realize she has worked for Kuzak’s Closet since February but I haven’t introduced her to many of you. She is fantastic and if you hire us for a summer or fall session you will meet her very soon.
When I realized the year was half over I had to go through my calendar and count how many estate sales we have had so far. Drumroll please…………………..and the number is 45! That is already as many as we had last year!!! Please pick my jaw up off my desk! We’ve had 28 liquidations and 17 estate sales. Oh my goodness, now I don’t feel as guilty for saying no to some projects so the staff can have a vacation this month. Yes, we will be closed for the week of the 13th so schedule that week to get all of your errands and doctors appointments done before we come back full force the next week!
Speaking of sales, last weekend’s San Martin estate was such a treat to work on. I was reminded of how much I love country living with the cows and the large home lots. Our client was tucked away on a hill in a gated community and the views were spectacular. It was a drive but the whole crew enjoyed the change of scenery.
The press has also been good to me this month. Kuzak’s Closet won Best Blog in Silicon Valley for the 4th year in a row! We also won best tweets and Facebook Page for the second time in a row. I have never considered myself tech savvy but I guess I am, crazy!
The Los Altos Town Crier has also added me as a columnist in their Home Section. I will be writing seasonal articles about home organization, my first was about keeping your craft room organized this summer. Check out my favorite tips on the blog this week.
The finale of the month is my husband’s birthday. He turns 33 today, lucky for him he still looks like he is 18! We celebrated on Sunday night by going out to dinner in Menlo Park at Madera. We had a nice dinner on the patio and enjoyed the sunshine and lots of desserts.
Looking into July the organizing calendar is quite full and the estate sale schedule is getting there. We already have 4 amazing sales on the calendar for August and September and I am excited to see what else comes my way. I always say this but I am very lucky to do what I do and I love that my hard work is paying off.
