Going through the highlights of the month of May has been a hoot, I totally forgot that half of the things happened! For instance, if you asked me about my recent vacation I would say “what recent vacation?” We went to Palm Springs for a week at the beginning of the month but it feels like it was 2 years ago.
Our parents (who are friends) both expressed an interested to want to visit us in May so Chris and I decided it would be fun to rent a house in Palm Springs and go on a big vacation together. The house was a mid-century Eichler with tons of character and charm. I felt like I was living in an estate sale! It had 4 bedrooms and a pool and was close to downtown and all of the perks of the desert. Most days I spent hanging by the pool relaxing and also working, I tried my best to unplug but I really needed to spend 2 hours a day on email and connecting with Taylor who was managing the fort back in Silicon Valley.
While we were in Palm Springs we took a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park. It was so beautiful and I’m glad we were able to explore it with our parents.
These are 2 of my favorite photos from the trip…Chris and his dad reading in the hot tub and Harper sunning by the pool She was able to come along on our trip and she loved it. She actually got to relax because of the lack of squirrels in the desert. Who knew the heat would keep them away!
A group shot of all of us at our last dinner out and the Tommy Bahama restaurant, we really had a nice time.
After our Palm Springs trip I dove back into work. We’ve had a ton of organizing projects on the calendar this month. Everything from garages to kitchens, we’ve done it all.
I’m very lucky to have Taylor and Tammy on staff to help me get to everyone that wants to work with Kuzak’s Closet. As a team we are able to get more done in one session than most companies can in 5-6, it’s amazing and efficient for our clients.
The last week of the month was an organizing bonanza. We had so many projects in the works including a large relocation for a couple moving from Menlo Park to Portola Valley. Kuzak’s Closet managed the move from start to finish and it was fun to see how excited our clients were to have all of the boxes out of their home in just 2 days. They have a new baby and I’m so glad that we were able to take their stresses away so they could focus on him and final touches around the house. Here is a peek at their master closet…
It was also estate sale mania (when is it not) in May. Our liquidations have become very popular with clients and we had a few fantastic liquidation sales during the month. My favorite was the 3 day MEGA liquidation in San Jose. The clients were so thrilled that we were able to empty the house so quickly, their mother as a shopaholic and thought of going through her stacks made them anxious. We had 2 Los Altos estate sales and a fab midcentury sale in Palo Alto as well.
We work hard at Kuzak’s Closet but we also know how to have fun. I love the shot of us on the left playing dress up at our Los Altos estate sale. Billy is always the first person to put on a costume, he is a goof ball. The photo on the right is from the “name your price” game at our evergreen acre estate. I often pull a few items out of the house before we open our liquidation sales and allow shoppers in line to name their price. The shopper with the highest price wins and it allows everyone to buy a hot item no matter what number they are in line.
The photo on the bottom left is from the MEGA liquidation. We had a huge crowd at that project and I was very thankful for that. I love being able to pass on great deals to people who need things, that includes the nonprofits that we work with.
Last mention must be the photo on the bottom right of me and a new shopper named John. He started shopping with Kuzak’s Closet in April and is hooked. He is a character just like most of our shoppers and I love all of them. Kuzak’s Closet really has created a fun community.
Now that memorial day has passed and June is here I think it’s officially summer. I went on my first ice cream run of the season and I’ve filled up my new floating ducky cup holder with a several white wine spritzers. I might not have a lot of free time but when I do have a moment to relax this is what I’m up to. Exciting, I know!
This month the calendar is already booked with lots of fun projects. I’ve been working behind the scenes on a new look for the website and blog and I’m looking forward to launching that later this week. The team and I will be busy with the usual estate projects and organizing gigs and we are all looking forward to seeing where the summer takes us!

Glad to hear you had a chance to relax a bit with family and Harper in Palm Springs. It’s summer already how did that happen?? I don’t know how you do it all – you’re truly an inspiration. I love taking breaks to read your posts.
Take care,
Kathy
