Whew! I survived February! It was a wonderful month and we were able to jam in a TON of great projects over the 28 days. I’ve had a huge influx of projects land on the calendar from families looking to liquidate their homes before the spring real estate season and families hoping to organize their homes in anticipation of spring cleaning and as a follow-up to their new year’s resolutions.
I’m kicking off today’s post with this fun photo of the Kuzak’s Closet gang taken over the weekend. Man we have so much fun together! When I look at this picture I see individuals that are a pure joy to be around and work with. Going left to right…Christopher, Sarah, Jennalynn, Taylor, Me, Billy, Hope, Chris, and Ese. We are just missing Monica, Sutzi, and Yovan (we took this after work on Saturday and they weren’t with us).
The Kuzak’s Closet team really is the best! We work really hard but it doesn’t always feel like work because we are all on the same page and we help each other reach our goals. I’m up to 11 people on staff with one on the way, hopefully I’ll be able to make that announcement soon! We have a new organizer coming on board, something I’ve been looking forward to for the last 6 months. The organizing services and estate services are split 50/50 and the demand for both is so high right now that we are all just trying to stay a-float.!
To balance the workload my husband encouraged me to take a day off and head up to Napa with him for the day. It was a smart move, the weather was warm, the views were beautiful, and the food and wine were perfect. It was my only day off all month and I enjoyed every minute of it. Have you ever been there? What are your favorite things to do and see when you go?
The Four Seasons invited me along with some gal pals for a fun afternoon tea event just before Valentine’s Day. There were lots of sweet treats and inspiration from local companies. We had a nice time and are looking forward to heading back for their upcoming Summer Solstice events, sangria anyone?
A major highlight from February was flying to Dallas to visit The Container Store’s headquarters. I’ve been chatting with them for a few months about their new Contained Home service and went to learn more and see how Kuzak’s Closet can partner with them.
I was in the company of a handful of other amazing organizers from the Bay Area, Dallas, New York, and Washington D.C. It was great to make new friends and leave with an exciting partnership to announce! For my current and future clients it means that we will be able to help you with products and closet designs from Elfa and their soon to be released TCS closets, a high end quality custom cabinet product! I was able to take a peek at it while I was at the headquarters but I’m looking forward to seeing it at the Stanford store in July!
We tackled so many neat organizing projects in February. Some with new clients and others with current clients. The one thing that everyone seems to have in common is a love of dogs, I feel like all of my clients have a pooch or two. At each project dogs seem to be mesmerized with what we are doing, watching everything we do. I started a new hashtag on instagram called #dogsoforganizing to keep track of our furry friends.
I added another vehicle to the Kuzak’s Closet fleet this month! I’ve been wanting a Ford Sprinter van for a few months and finally had the time to buy one! It’s been a great purchase, it drives like a dream and hold a TON of stuff! Everyday it is full of donations from organizing and estate projects. I holds 4 times as much as my truck which is so much more efficient.
I managed to fit a birthday in the mix, the 19th was my 34 birthday. Can you believe that? I am almost 40! Where has the time gone! People always ask me how old I am because they don’t believe I’ve been in business for 10 years. I celebrated with a vintage party hat and homemade cupcakes (made by my husband) at this week’s Atherton estate after I took the photos for the marketing.
Speaking of Atherton, what did you think of this weekend’s sale? It was pretty amazing if you ask me! The sale was really busy but we had it well-organized and the layout allowed for smaller lines to get in and to pay. We did such a great job selling the items, the house is almost empty with all of your help! I’m going back to meet with the trustees this morning so it will be interesting to see their reactions.
Atherton was just one of the many sales we had during the month, in total looking at the calendar we had 6. That seems like a lot but looking at the next 2 weeks we have 5 more on the schedule and I have a ton of consultations coming up. I’ve had to turn away more business than ever which makes me sad but there are only so many days in the month!
I’ll leave you with this candid shot of Billy from this week’s Atherton sale. He was the security guard and stayed overnight to make sure the shoppers behaved and didn’t try to jump the fence for great deals in the middle of the night. He is probably the most interesting person that I have ever met and I thank my stars every day for having the opportunity to call him my friend.
Have a great week and I’ll see you at our next organizing session or at this week’s Los Altos Hills estate liquidation or Sunnyvale estate sale!
