Life is good my friends! I’ve been working my buns off but I can’t complain! I’m enjoying this journey so much, I can’t imagine something more fulfilling at this particular point in my life. This fall will mark 5 years in California for me and Kuzak’s Closet, I never imagined that it would turn into what it is today. I’m glad that I can remember the first 6 months living here, hustling for business and just waiting for the phone to ring. It took me 6 months to get my first client, thank you Kathy Roth for choosing me as your professional organizer! After Kathy’s project was complete my phone never seemed to stop ringing. Back then I thought I was busy but looking back I had such great work life balance. I had time to take Harper on playdates, create recipes for the blog, and visit Google weekly for meals. Now I am tackling 3-4 projects in a single day with my team, Harper is happily walking solo with me, Chris does the cooking, and I haven’t been to Google for months!
I know I’ve gone on these rants before but I am constantly surprised that I have been able to create something with my own efforts, I’m able to make a living and now able to pay almost a dozen people to be on my staff. I’m so lucky to have great people in my life, encouraging me to keep up the good work and pick me up when I don’t think I can keep going. Putting together today’s post of with the latest highlights I’m seeing many of those faces.
Looking back at the last few weeks I’ve had a lot of fun. When I got an invite from Kate Spade at Santana Row to attend a soiree I had to invite Taylor and Monica to come along. It was great to connect with the team at their beautiful store! We shopped, snacked, and caught up on some chit-chat. Taylor bought a cute wallet and I bought these cute booties. I can’t wait until fall, I prefer to wear boots and jeans any day! Kuzak’s Closet will be teaming up with Kate Spade for a fun holiday event so stay tuned to the blog!
Chris and I celebrated 8 years of marriage earlier this month. The picture on the left is from 9 years ago, we look so young! Chris planned a special dinner at The Ritz in Half Moon Bay. It was such a treat, the champagne was delish and the view was great. I’m looking forward to going back! Somedays it feels like we’ve just started dating and other days it feels like we’ve been married forever, I guess that’s normal.
I mentioned that I was thinking about getting a new look to my stylist Kelly during my latest visit to the salon. She immediately had a plan and I was like, “let’s do it!” I love my natural hair color but I am excited to try something a little richer and professional. When I see my blah ponytail in pictures I’m reminded that I need a try a little harder sometimes. It turned out so cute! Kelly, you are the best!
We’ve got 2 new characters at Kuzak’s Closet! We’ll provide formal introductions later this week but you will see me with Sarah on the left and Hope on the right. These two ladies have only had a week or two under their belts but they proved instantly that they are perfect for the job. Our HR Manager Sutzi did a great job with job search, her help with projects like hiring is priceless. It’s hard for me to give it the time that it needs and God knows I would probably ask an inappropriate question during the screening process or be too overwhelmed with the resumes.
Our friend Noelani is the Director of Development at San Jose Jazz. They recently had their summer fest and since Kuzak’s Closet donated to their silent auction we were able to get VIP tickets. It was great to sit in the VIP section, listen to some great music and do some major people watching.
We had a huge relocation project in Atherton and everyone had to pitch in. Jordan, Taylor, Shelby, Noelani, Billy and I worked our magic and left our clients very happy in their beautiful custom home. It was an intense week but the client made it fun, I’m happy to be in a position to choose who we work with. Many of our projects are confidential so I’m not able to give you a peek at our work. I’m hoping to get a couple of shots from this one for you, we’ll see.
Yesterday I was featured on the front page of the lifestyle page in the San Jose Mercury News. When the reported contacted me I was really surprised. She found my blog and wanted to me to share my insights on back to school organizing. They interviewed one of my favorite clients and even shared photos of my work, so cool!

Well, that is just a handful of the highlights from the last few weeks. This week I’m managing the installation and organizing 3 custom closets along with a handful of organizing and estate projects. There are so many things in the pipeline right now, I’ve had to remind myself that it’s okay to say no and ask for what works for me and my team.
Sutzi says
Wow, August was unbelievable and there is still a few more days. Thanks so much for including me. It’s so hard for me to be away from this fabulous team.Hope to see you soon. You and Chris need to look at your schedule for next year and plan a visit.
