TGIF my friends! It’s hard to believe another week has already flown by, before we know it the holidays will be here! It was great to see so many of you at our Mountain View estate sale yesterday! You have all become my California family and I am so thankful for that!
Speaking of family, I flew to Michigan for a quick trip to visit family and friends last week. I shared lots of pictures from my trip on Instagram and Facebook but today I wanted to share the highlights in a quick blog post.
Do you love seeing your parents home as much as I do? When I drive in the driveway of the house I grew up in I am instantly relaxed. My parents built their house when my mom was pregnant with me 33 years ago. It is beautifully organized and decorated (I must get that from my mom).
In the hallway to my old bedroom their are large photos of me and my siblings from our senior years in high school. Hard to believe this picture was taken 15 years ago, time flies! I’m proud of everything I’ve accomplished between then and now, just wish I could fit into my high school wardrobe :)!
My sister lives in Michigan, just a few minutes away from my parents. We were able to get together on several occasions during the week. We are always able to pick up where we left off, dorky jokes and all!
My mom and I spent a day visiting our favorite antique shops and boutiques on the lakeshore. Isn’t this vintage collection adorable, reminds me of our estate sales! If you are ever in Forrester you need to stop by Farmhouse Antiques!
I stocked up on all sorts of goodies in Noble of Lexington, I love eveything about this picture! Someday I’ll be able to afford a cottage that I can decorate with all of this cute stuff!
Double the fun with my twin nieces! Lilly and Audrey kept me busy with a trip to the candy store, a day out shopping, a fun day by the pool, and a slumber party in my old room. I am so thankful that they don’t forget about me when I am away, I love these two so much!
I was able to catch up with several of my college friends on this trip. I had breakfast with my friend Brooke, I wish I would’ve taken a picture of her and her cute baby bump- she is due with her second baby in about 4 weeks. Below is a picture of Ashlie and I with our friend Jessi. Can you believe she has 4 kids under the age of 5? She’s amazing, I can’t wait for her to visit me in California so we can get crackin on a fictional book based on my business, how good would that be!
Marge! My 89 year old granny is doing really well! I dropped by the independant living facility that she is at a few times for a visit. It’s always good to catch up with her, I miss her so much when I am away.
My 97 year old aunt lives in the same center as my Grandma (she is on my left). I love that these sisters are back together for this chapter in their life. Makes me wonder if my sister and I will be bunking up again someday.
I had to hit up Tiffany’s in Frankenmuth with my parents for some wine and pizza, it’s a hot spot!
I tried to walk 2-4 miles each night with my dad. I’ve spent many miles walking and running the streets in my hometown, I love to look at the houses and run into friendly faces along the way.
My mom and sister helped me with a quick organizing project one afternoon. We helped a friend/client get his condo decluttered and staged for a potential real estate endevour, it looks great doesn’t it!
I had to snag one of these cute shirts, who can resist the mitten?
A little stretch of my hometown of Cass City, love the old Cass Theatre!
Another visit with a college friend! Ashlie and Erin brought their kids to my mom and dad’s for a quick pool date. Erin helps with Kuzak’s Closet graphics so I talk to her through email on a regular basis but I haven’t seen her in years! Miss you Erin!
My niece Lilly’s idea of a beach babe, I think she’s right on the money!
I probably watched Robin Hood 4 times last week with the girls, they love it as much as my little brother used to. (I’ve probably seen it 400 times with him through the years, gotta love Hiss!)
Kuzak’s Closet delivers! My friend Doris snagged a few items from an estate sale in California so I hand delivered them to her. Isn’t this sewing basket darling! She was so happy!
After the deliveries I had to fill up my suitcase with more treasures! I love this “selfie” of my mom, sister, and nieces at the Cass City Antique Mall. We had lots of luck, they always have cute things.
Here is our loot! I bought the drink carrier and the muffin tin, my sister got the vase and the wheels, and my mom got the lady planter.
Cheers to a fun and relaxing week! It was so nice to not have to answer my phone or emails for a few days!
We celebrated my last night with a BBQ with s’mores for dessert, the perfect Michigan summer treat!
Yum!
Last but not least, I stopped by our family museum on the way back to the airport. I took lots of pictures and will share more in a blog post on Monday.
Okay, that is a lot of highlights but it was a good trip! Wish I had more pictures of dinner with my inlaws and visits with my friends, next time! Harper was glad to have me back, she welcomed me at the airport and has almost forgiven me for leaving her behind for a week.
See you on Monday! Don’t forget to follow Kuzak’s Closet on Instagram, we are at the BlogHer conference this weekend in San Jose and will be sharing lots of coverage from the event!
