I’m really embracing Halloween this year and I’m proud of myself. My friend Lori is having a costume party tonight and I agreed to go. I HATE costumes and still have no idea what I’m going to wear. Maybe I’ll pick up a set of cat ears on the way.
Anyway, the only thing getting me through my fear of costumes is my focus on the snacks I’m brining. I’m making my herbed ricotta bruschetta and a Halloween snack mix. The snack mix is a new concoction and I’m kind of loving it. I forgot how fun it is to dump a whole bunch of goodies into a paper bag, shake it up, and discover a fun mixture in the end.
Did I mention how fun it was to buy all of this stuff? It was like a wild goose chase around the grocery store.
Here is the recipe…
- 3 boxes of Cheez-its
- 1 bag of Bugles
- 1 box of mini Nutter Butters (if you can find them), I improvised with creme patties that I chopped into small pieces
- 1 bag of Candy Corn
- 2 bags of Reese’s Pieces
- 1 bag of Halloween marshmallows, I used ghosts
- Combines all of the ingredients in a VERY large bowl or a brown paper shopping bag.
- Lightly stir or shake.
- Enjoy!
I portioned the snack mix out in little plastic cocktail cups so Lori’s guests can grab one and go. These snacks would be perfect for a child’s school treat for their friends or as a surprise in their lunchbox.
Wish me luck with my costume fear! Happy Halloween!
My girls love snack mixes like these–so fun to change it up for the different seasons and holidays!
