When Tammy from Type A Decorating asked me to be apart of her Christmas Series I spent a few days mulling over creative ideas to share. I researched DIY projects and recipes online looking for something budget friendly and festive. I love truffles and always thought they were really difficult to make until I saw this recipe with only 4 ingredients! The recipe says it makes 36 but mine made about 20 and it was a good thing because they tasted as good as they look! I ended up giving some as gifts, a few to my walking buddy Roberta, leaving just a handfull for Chris and I (my skinny jeans thanked me later!) Give these treats a try this Christmas!
Ingredients
- 12 oz. Hershey’s milk chocolate chips (feel free to swap for dark chocolate)
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/3 cup Kahlua
- 2/3 cups unsalted butter
I was going to take step by step photos for you but melting chocolate doesn’t look very appetizing on film! Here the steps you need to take…
Directions
- Melt chocolate over double boiler and cool to room temperature (20 minutes)
- Add yolks, one at a time and stir gently.
- When blended, add Kahlua and return to simmering water for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Stir in butter, 1 tablespoon at a time until fluffy.
- Cover with plastic and refrigerate at least 5-7 hours.
- Roll into small balls, then roll in cocoa, sprinkles, or crushed nuts to cover. Refrigerate and serve!
I found these cute tins at Target in the $1 section, they are the perfect size to share your homemade goodies. My friend received a job promotion so I gave him this cute wrapped tin as a special surprise to help him celebrate his success. Wouldn’t you love to receive this pretty package?
