Last week I revealed a sneak peak of the variety of projects that I have been working on and today I wanted to share the before and afters from a master closet that I just finished (you’ll have to wait a little longer for the rest). My clients live in an older 1920s home with limited closet space. They are considering selling it and their Realtor suggested they get organized and invest in custom closets to increase the value and eye appeal of each of the bedrooms.
I do not build custom closets myself (Kuzak’s Closet can’t do everything) so I work closely with Karin Parodi from Valet Custom Closets and Cabinets, a local company that creates and installs custom closets to do that part of the job. We work as the perfect team, I declutter, they build and install, and then I put everything away in an organized way that works for the client, love it! I also love that I can count on them to provide a quality product along with great service.
So, if you can believe it…my clients were sharing this small single bar closet for 4 years. When we first met for the consultation I kept asking where the rest of their clothing was and they insisted it was all in this one closet. I didn’t believe them, I figured I would find bins and bags of things scattered throughout the house once we got started with our hands on organizing sessions but they were telling the truth, this is all they had. The good thing about these clients is that they only invest in quality clothing that they really love, the bad thing is that it is stored in an unappealing and inefficient way that made it hard to find what they were looking for. The before and afters illustrate the difference it makes when you have a custom closet paired with an organized wardrobe…pure bliss!

Don’t the results look great? I was able to get everything organized while my clients were away on business. What a nice surprise to come home to this makeover! Putting everything back together is always a bit of a puzzle but that is what I love. Once the closet was installed I swapped out all of the hangers for my favorite velvet hangers and I started to put things away. I created a shopping list as I worked and hit Target with my measuring tape where I found the cute iTSO Polka Dot Bins to store scarves, sweaters, bags, and t-shirts.
While the closets were being installed my client asked me to tackle the master bathroom. They have gorgeous custom vanity with double sinks with storage underneath. Over the last year they have lost sense of any organization down there and it became a dumping ground for all of their health and beauty items. These products can be expensive and I hate to see them go to waste! I tackled the project by organizing all each item based on categories (sunscreen, medication, travel samples, skincare, first aid, etc.) into clear tubs. I tossed items that looked old, empty, or expired. Once the tubs were filled I placed labels on them and stacked them in neat rows. Now they can clearly see (no pun intended) and use what they have.

Do you love the changes that I made? Do you wish this was your house? I really hope so and I would love to hear about the projects that you are tackling this month!
The closet looks gorgeous – love the polka dots – and I can testify as to how addictive clear plastic bins can be for other types of storage!
Great to see you at the conference on Saturday… really hope you got at least something out of it… and many, many thanks for your kind support this past year.
Wishing Kuzak's Closet *every* success in future!
Thanks Pauline! It was great to see you at the conference too, it was great to meet so many other organizers and learn about their businesses. Stay in touch!
Amanda, job well done, again! Love the closet. Sometimes you just have to go custom. The closet is simple, but the space is so well utilized!
OH I'm so doing this! You did AMAZING Work! Thanks for linking to Wicked Awesome Wednesday!
You did a great job! Isn't is amazing how an organized space makes you feel?
