Touchdown Week has been such a treat so far, it has really gotten me inspired to entertain more and try some new recipes during the rest of the season. Today I am excited to have a recipe sent to me from Coca-Cola Bottling Company for Slow Cooked Baked Beans. Enjoy!
Enhance your tailgate experience by mixing a little Coca-Cola into your recipes. Then you can kick back with a delicious meal and a refreshing beverage for the big game!
Ingredients
1 can pinto or red beans
6 ounces Coca-Cola
diced onion to taste (approx. 1/2 cup)
diced green pepper (approx. 1/4 cup)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons mustard
1/4 cup catsup
6-8 strips of bacon
Directions
In a cast iron skillet, saute 2 strips of bacon with the onion and green pepper until the onion is golden. Stir in all of the other ingredients, except the remaining bacon. Bring to a low boil. Pour into a greased casserole dish. Place the remaining bacon strips across the beans. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
