Nick enjoying a Chappel Chili Dog
Touchdown Week continues with a guest post from a couple close to my heart, my brother Nick and his wife Kelly. They are sharing some tasty his and hers tailgate treats, enjoy!
His: Chappel Chili DogsWhen it comes to tailgating I always enjoy a cold drink and a good hot dog or bratwurst. Even though I do not tailgate much anymore as I am no longer in school I still enjoy watching the games from home and enjoying some of the same great food from the past. I decided to make good old Chappel Chili Dogs! Hope you enjoy!
Ingredients
1 Hot dog, preferably all beef:)
1 can chili, homemade is nice but I am not much of a chili maker…
Buns of course
Sliced jalapeno
Mustard
Shredded cheddar cheese or mix in some pepper jack for extra spice
Directions
Place the dog in the bun and layer with chili, jalapeno, mustard, and cheese. Enjoy!
Kelly with the South Carolina Game Cock
Hers: Pimento Cheese
My best college memories at University of South Carolina involved two things: my friends, and football games!
Dress Code: Game day was always a big deal at USC. Boys would often ask girls to go to the game (as a date), and so it was common for girls to dress up to go to football games. I remember when I first found this out after a boy asked me if I wanted to go with him to the first home game, I had no idea it was supposed to be a date!Schedule: Early morning wake up! The only days my room mate Mary Beth woke up before me was on game day. We had so much fun getting ready for the games and getting out to tailgate early. By the end of the day after tailgating and cheering at the games, we were exhausted!
Menu: Beer, Mixed drinks (Spurrier cocktails), and lots of tasty food! We mostly snacked on dips and appetizers but went for chicken strips for more substantial food (I loved being in college!)
The best part of being at the USC football games was being in the student section. I love how loud students get when their team is winning! We have the best fans! I can’t wait to get back to Columbia this year for some games! Go Gamecocks!
Besides the beer and Spurrier Cocktails, one tailgate staple was Pimento Cheese! It it delicious and versatile! My friend’s mom made it sweeter by adding sugar, I have also heard of people adding Amaretto for sweetness, but I prefer spicy so I added jalapeno and hot sauce. Great on a sandwich, served with crackers, and even better with Frito’s!
Ingredients
2 cups shredded cheese
1/4 cup mayo
1/4 cup chopped pimentos
1 diced jalapeno
Dash of hot sauce, Worcestershire, and salt and pepper to taste (I used Cayenne pepper for more spice)
Directions
Combine all ingredients well, refrigerate at least 30 minutes, but I prefer to make it a day ahead! Thanks for so much for guest blogging today Nick and Kelly! I hope you are all enjoy Touchdown Week! If you are interested in participating in my next themed week let me know, I am looking for guest blogging for Holiday Decor Week in December.

Great post! I had no idea that when I guy asked a girl to go to a game (in the USC) it was a “date.” Both recipes look delicious, can't wait to try these both!

I am not in school anymore either but I still tailgate. Me and my family are die-hards and rain or shine were still there. His chappel chili dogs look very delicious not to mention your pimento cheese. Tailgating has become a tradition for us and we couldn't pull the party off without great food and my Tailgater. I am so glad I got the product working at DISH Network. It tags along wherever I go. It even finds the signal for you automatically. If you’re ever in my town come party with us.
